Monster Nation TV Airing
The Cosmic Muffin is to be featured on the Discovery Channel’s premiere episode of Monster Nation on November 1 at 7 p.m. EST. The plane–boat was featured on the Travel Channel’s Amazing Vacation Homes on Sept. 13.
Muffin Goes Google
The powerful Google search engine has been added to the planeboats.com Web site, allowing visitors to seach for specific information within the site or to search the entire Web. The new search option has been added to the Site Index page.
Flying Cloud Section Added
A new section has been added to the plane–boat Web site, which contains information about the restored Pam Am Stratoliner Flying Cloud, which was delivered to the National and Space Museum in August 2003.
Philatelic Covers Salute the Wright Brothers
A limited edition of three philatelic covers were issued by Plane Boats, Inc. on December 17, 2003 in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Wright brothers’ first powered flight.
The covers were designed by Webmaster Albert W. Starkweather and were postmarked at Fort Lauderdale Gateway Station; Kill Devil Hills, NC, where the flight took place, and at Kitty Hawk, NC, where the Wrights were staying during the flight experiments. The latter pair have special pictorial cancellations issued by the U.S. Postal Service.
